Coaching
the Young MultiSport Athlete – 2 Day Hands-On Youth
Clinic

(Approved USAT Education Course – 10 CEUs + Service
to the Sport Requirement Satisfaction)
USAT Coaches and Fitness Professionals:
This Clinic & Coach Instruction Program provides coaches
will the follow opportunities:
- USAT coaches receive 9.5 – 10 hours of Hands-On
youth clinic training; and 5.5 – 6 hours of direct
USAT Coach Educational/Classroom Instruction on Youth in
MultiSport
- Increase their knowledge base regarding health related
issues of today’s youth and how participation in
multisport events can help eradicate youth physical inactivity
and obesity.
- Understand the differences & needs of coaching youth
multisport athletes.
- Risk Management Issues, Liability and Safety Protocols.
- Ability to develop & implement their own youth clinics
and camps using the AMM program and materials.
- Help coaches generate additional revenue by broadening
their coaching scope to youth athletes.
Kids:
Alive with MissionMe! Youth MultiSport clinic for kids is
a top quality two-day non-competitive clinic designed by
accredited triathletes and credentialed sports clinicians
specifically for aspiring young triathletes. Under the
guidance of the Alive with MissionMe!® clinic director,
this clinic will help the participants learn sport specific
techniques and training tools while building a foundation
for personal success as a triathlete. This clinic promotes
fun, safety, camaraderie, and solid instruction. The clinic
will help any child who is preparing for the 2008 McDonald’s
Kids Triathlon (Part of the Accenture Multisport Weekend),
in Chicago, Illinois, on August 23, or any other triathlon
event. During the clinic, coaches and local triathletes
will be on hand to help develop your child’s skill
in each sport.
Participant Qualifications:
Ages 7-10 Participants
must be able to:
Swim 100yds Bike 2.25 miles & Run/Jog
.6 miles
Ages 11-15 Participants
must be able to:
Swim 200yds Bike 6 miles & Run/Jog
1.2 miles
The Alive with MissionMe! ® clinic topics:
- Injury Prevention
- Training Guidelines
- Safety
- Triathlon Basic Terms and Principles
- Efficiency & proper biomechanics for swimming, cycling,
running
- Bike safety and awareness
- Major Muscle group activities to enhance upper lower
and core/balance
- The importance of practicing transitions (swim to the
bike-bike to the run)
- Equipment
Equipment Needed:
Participants must provide bikes, swim gear, and
run gear.
Properly operating bikes and helmets are required to
insure safety
- Swim suit, Swim goggles (required)
- Swim cap, Ear plugs (optional)
- 2 towels (required)
- Bike, Bike helmet (required for participation in
clinic)
- Bike shoes, Bike shorts (optional)
- Running Shoes, Socks, Shorts, T-shirt (required)
- Hat (optional
